Gray Jay - Perisoreus canadensis The Gray Jay is often confused with Clark's Nutcracker but is smaller in size. It's also known the "Camp Robber" and "Whiskey Jack." Both of these names come from its association with people over the centuries. Native peoples of the north called it wiss-ka-tjon or wis-ka-chon. As more English-speaking people settled and worked in the northern forests they came to call it "Whiskey Jack." Today its common" names are"Gray Jay" or "Canada Jay."
