| Downy Woodpecker Dendrocopos pubescens A much smaller woodpecker than the Acorn Woodpecker. I often find these birds high in our Walnut tree looking for the same food as the Acorn Woodpecker. Often confused with the Hairy Woodpecker, it is smaller and has a much smaller and slender bill than the Hairy. Backyar, Goleta, California. |
