Northern Pygmy Owl Glaucidium gnoma This small owl is often confused with the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl. The best way to tell is the tell-tale markings on the head. The northern has spots while the ferruginous will have streaks. This little guy was rescued after being found on a trail. It recovered and was released back into the wild. Santa Barbara County, California.
